In this three-step assignment, I am challenged to design a series of spaces, walls, floors, and volumes based on the restricted structural columns. How to design almost nothing? And let space speak for itself.

Develop based on the word “Void & Solid.” I had found various strategies to play with geometry shape- circle. The smooth integration with the column helped achieve continuous fluidity and reduced the rigidity of the hard material. Moreover, extra playfulness is brought to the design when the semi-circle starts forming a geometry pattern when overlay from different levels. I learned how to design a structure from various dimensions and finding a creative approach in restriction.

In the last model, I combined strategies in the first two models and created an outdoor recreation platform by balancing the relationship between geometric design and spatial utility, while the sculptural approach also brings extra playfulness among the building blocks in the community.
